Perspectives

Not too long ago people believed that the earth was as flat as a plate. After all the horizon does look flat as we stand on the ground. You can see the horizon vanishing away in a straight line. Believing that the earth was flat made people afraid. After all no one was in a hurry to sail off the edge of the earth! And then we discovered that the earth was round and not flat and that gave people the courage to sail on towards that visible edge and discover new continents. Today as we watch the land take on new forms and see the fantastic patterns from an airplane window we realize that our new perspectives have given us new freedom.

Saul's perspective was hard, small and prison-like on the way to Damascus - and then in that one meeting with Jesus - he gained a whole new perspective. This new perspective was broad enough to sweep in the whole known world as Paul set out to win the known world for Jesus!
